Why a House for a Coffee Shop?
The beauty of connecting face to face is not lost on us after the pandemic, is it? While at times it feels like a distant bad dream, we can also vividly recall the pain and loneliness that came from isolating from loved ones. Between the pandemic, and our technology, it has become easier than ever to live in isolation. I think most of us are in agreement that we were not made for it though. We need each other. We need those daily interactions in real life- messy as they be.
I can think of no better setting for that than in a home.
The heart of Hattie's Coffee House is connection.
Many aspects of this business excite me. The renovations of the shop, the careful planning of menu items, searching for equipment + furnishings, and dreaming of how to make it a wonderful space for our customers. However, connecting with others has been my greatest delight so far. I've met so many new people in just the 5 months we've been working on Hattie's and I am so excited to keep meeting more new people everyday.
Collaborating, laughing, sharing, and extending friendship is something I am passionate about and I cannot wait to see this home filled with these connections. When I close my eyes and picture it I see groups of friends meeting up, first dates taking place, work and business meetings buzzing, and parents connecting with their friends while their kids play nearby. I see the tough conversations and the frivolous ones too. I see so much potential for people to be together.
I wish I could have you each over to the house to show you why it's going to be so special. Why it is so special. But I hope these pictures give you the tiniest glimpses of the space that we're working so hard on.
Mario has done a beautiful job restoring the home and I am thankful he's willing to let me share the space & add my own touches to it. Cannot wait to have you over and serve you up some fresh locally roasted coffee! :)
